Ottawabirds
ELUTIS has implemented and maintains a web based data-entry and database system for the Ottawa Bird Count – a voluntary and scientifically based ongoing survey in Canada’s capital. The online database allows volunteers to enter bird nest observations, census plot data as well as point count route observations. ELUTIS is a proud supporter of this program, which was initiated in 2007 and continues to provide valuable insights but also a database for scientific research related to bird populations in Ottawa. – http://www.glel.carleton.ca/ottawabirds/
Farmland Heterogeneity and Biodiversity
ELUTIS designed and implemented an online database system for a strategic, large scale research project investigating effects of farmland heterogeneity on biodiversity. This collaboration was based on a triangle partnership between the GLEL, Agriculture Canada and ELUTIS with funding from NSERC. The online database provides input forms for various survey protocols and ensured consistent data entry during the project. The database is currently being used in various ongoing research projects. – http://www.glel.carleton.ca/fbd/FarmBioApp.php
Population Viability Analysis Tool
EPVAT is an online population viability assessment tool combining sensitivity analysis, wizard based guidance and scientific rigor (based on RAMAS GIS) to support scoping of the most important factors affecting a wildlife population in space and time. PVAT operates on a large number of pre-simulated population trajectories covering a wide range of demographic conditions and landscape configurations. The benefits are rapid assessments and improved communication among stakeholders involved in species conservation. – PVAT will see if I can restore that
